Need Food Assistance? We Are Here For You.
Zero bureaucracy. Zero shame. Fresh groceries, infant formula, and community support at 200 Greenwood St.
Do I need a referral or social worker to visit the pantry?
No referral is ever needed. Anyone living in Quinsigamond Village, South Worcester, or surrounding neighborhoods who needs emergency or regular groceries is welcome to walk in.
What do I need to bring on my first visit?
If available, please bring any photo ID (state ID, driver's license, or passport) and a piece of mail confirming your address. However, if you do not have an ID or mail with you today, PLEASE COME ANYWAY. Under TEFAP guidelines and QVCC policy, missing documentation will never prevent receiving an emergency food package.
Is there an income test or citizenship requirement?
Absolutely not. QVCC does not check income brackets, tax returns, or immigration status. We operate under unconditional community dignity.
How often can my family receive groceries?
Families can receive complete monthly grocery distributions, plus weekly fresh bread, bakery pastries, and seasonal produce whenever our staging tables are stocked.
Food Insecurity Can Touch Anyone — You Are Always Welcome Here
Food insecurity is not a personal failure, a lack of effort, or something to hide—it is an economic reality that touches families from every walk of life. In Worcester and across the country, over one in three households face seasons where paychecks simply cannot keep pace with skyrocketing grocery costs, housing expenses, medical emergencies, or fixed pensions.
We know how hard it can be to ask for help. Many neighbors sit in their cars in our parking lot before finding the courage to walk up our ramp. Please know: you are not alone, you have nothing to apologize for, and there is zero shame here.
Nutritious food is a universal human need and a basic human right. Coming to a neighborhood pantry is not giving up—it is a proactive act of care, resilience, and strength for yourself and the people you love. Community safety nets exist precisely so no neighbor ever has to choose between paying rent, buying medicine, or putting dinner on the table.
Parents & Growing Families
Infant formula, diapers, and nutritious groceries for growing children are huge household costs. Seeking essentials is an act of fierce love. We have diapers (sizes Newborn–6) and formula ready for your family.
Working Adults & Households
You work hard every day, but grocery inflation and rising bills squeeze family budgets tight. An unexpected car repair or hours cut can happen to anyone. That is why community safety nets exist.
Seniors & Fixed-Income Elders
You worked your whole life and built this community. A fixed retirement or Social Security check should never mean choosing between heat, medicine, and dinner. We welcome every elder with deep respect and dignity.
"No one will interrogate you, judge you, or make you feel small. Alison Mallett and our team will greet you with a warm smile, help you select wholesome food your family actually loves, and treat you like family."
Rooted in "The Village", Serving Worcester Families for Half a Century
Founded in 1974 by neighborhood residents along the Blackstone River, the Quinsigamond Village Community Center has stood as a dependable beacon for South Worcester. From emergency groceries and winter coats to housing advocacy and mobile food delivery, our mission is to empower families and ensure dignified support for all.
Now operating out of our active campus at 200 Greenwood Street (hosted by Emanuel Lutheran Church) and partnered with Friendly House, Inc., we serve hundreds of households every week with fresh nutrition, infant essentials, and social service referrals.

Prices Are Up. Wages Are Stagnant. Families Are Squeezed.
Behind the macroeconomic headlines are real Worcester neighbors: parents working 50-hour logistics shifts who still come up short at the register, and retired factory workers whose Social Security checks are swallowed by rent and prescription co-pays.

How Your Support Solves Real Village Needs
Operational insight into the everyday challenges facing South Worcester families and seniors, and how QVCC\'s programs deliver direct, dignified relief at 200 Greenwood St.
Bridging the Summer Food Gap for School-Aged Children
Hundreds of children in South Worcester depend on free or reduced-price breakfasts and lunches throughout the school year. When classes pause from late June through August, families face an unexpected monthly grocery deficit exceeding $400 per child.
Working single parents and dual-income households with multiple growing children struggle to absorb the sudden cost of 10 additional meals per week per child during summer break.
Every Thursday morning, QVCC provides child-friendly nutrition boxes loaded with hearty cereals, whole grain breads, peanut butter, string cheese, fresh seasonal fruit, and shelf-stable proteins.
Provides weekly child-friendly nutrition boxes throughout 10 weeks of summer break
